Getting Jealous

“Brother Zhou! Done talking with my brother?” Song Yuan greeted Jiang Zhou, who had suddenly appeared, with a cheerful smile.

Hearing Jiang Zhou’s name, Chen Ju’s heart gave a jolt. He looked up and met a pair of pitch-black eyes. Jiang Zhou stood behind him, his face expressionless. He released Chen Ju’s collar, gripped his shoulder, leaned down slightly, and wiped the cream from the corner of Chen Ju’s mouth. In a low voice, he said, “Didn’t I tell you not to eat cake? I’m not responsible for your toothache.”

A deep voice came from above, slightly hoarse. The tips of Chen Ju’s ears instantly turned red enough to drip blood, and he stared blankly at the handsome face right before him.

He’s so handsome. Those were the only three words left in Chen Ju’s empty mind.

Having been ignored outright, Song Yuan didn’t mind. He hurried over and apologized. “Ah, Brother Chen, you have bad teeth? I’m so sorry, I didn’t know. If your tooth starts hurting, tell me. I’ll find you the best dentist!”

Chen Ju came back to himself and realized Jiang Zhou had just wiped his mouth for him. A wave of embarrassment overwhelmed him. How had he gotten cake on his mouth? And—and even let Jiang Zhou wipe it for him?

He hurriedly lowered his head and quickly wiped his mouth with the back of his hand, stammering, “N-no need. My teeth are fine. They don’t hurt.”

Song Yuan was about to speak again, but Jiang Zhou took Chen Ju’s hand and shifted slightly to stand between them, his tall frame completely shielding Chen Ju.

“It’s about time. I’ll take you home,” Jiang Zhou said with a faint smile, as though Song Yuan didn’t exist.
