Although it was his day off, there was an important meeting at four that afternoon. Secretary Liu yawned as he crawled out of bed, washed up, and put on his immaculate suit. Standing before the mirror, he smoothed his unruly curls into place with gel, then put on his silver-framed glasses.

These were the gloves Chen Ju had bought as a gift. Hadn’t he reminded the boss that he didn’t like them? Why were they here?

As Secretary Liu pondered this, he suddenly sensed that the atmosphere had shifted. He paused, then slowly turned his head and met Jiang Zhou’s eyes.

Jiang Zhou leaned back in his chair, the corners of his mouth curled in a smile that didn’t reach his eyes. Secretary Liu couldn’t help shivering. He let out a dry laugh and asked, “Is there anything else you need, boss?”
