Concerned to Learn His Wife Was Working Two Jobs

Glancing at the clock on the wall, Chen Ju saw that it was already past nine. Jiang Zhou was still reading. Chen Ju licked his lips, clutched the bedsheet, and cautiously said, “Jiang Zhou, it’s so late. You should... go home. I’ll be fine on my own.”

Jiang Zhou kept reading without even looking up. “If you know it’s late, then go to sleep.”

“Oh.” Chen Ju paused for a few seconds, then asked, “Jiang Zhou, aren’t you going to sleep?”

This time, Jiang Zhou looked up and narrowed his eyes. Raising an eyebrow, he said, “Are you inviting me?”

Chen Ju froze. A moment later, his cheeks flared red, and he stammered, “N-no, I’m not...”

But Jiang Zhou didn’t wait for him to finish explaining. He closed his book, stood up, and walked over to the bed.

“If you want to sleep together, don’t beat around the bush.” Jiang Zhou loosened his tie, took off his suit jacket, and lifted the covers. “Move over a little.”

Seeing Jiang Zhou approach, Chen Ju hurriedly scooted toward the edge of the bed. A large hand suddenly settled on his waist as Jiang Zhou squeezed under the covers and pulled him closer. “Are you trying to fall off? You’re such an idiot.”

The single bed was packed full. Chen Ju lay stiffly on his back, not daring to move, while Jiang Zhou lay beside him with an arm around his waist and his chin resting on top of Chen Ju’s head, holding him firmly in his embrace.

They were so close in this position that Chen Ju could hear Jiang Zhou’s heartbeat through their thin clothes. Jiang Zhou could surely hear his, too...
