Varg, the Academy Budget Shredder

All eyes in the training grounds focused on me.

“The professor himself is going to fight that monster?”

“Crazy... This isn’t some monster-subjugation campaign...”

I shrugged and carefully disengaged Kara’s arm, which had been clinging tightly to mine.

“I’ll be back, honey. Keep your ears covered so Yappi doesn’t get startled.”

“Okay. Don’t hit him so hard you break the professor.”

Kara gave me a light pat on the back, as if she had not the slightest worry that I might lose.

I casually draped the wooden sword I’d been handed over my shoulder and strolled toward the center of the training grounds at an easy, leisurely pace.

Thud. Thud.

The floor made a dull sound with every step I took...
