The lecture hall was soon filled with the students’ chatter.

The Empire’s four regions had each cultivated a different culture atop the bloody history of the Age of the Four Kingdoms.

The heirs of those regions putting their heads together to talk about their roots was living history in itself.

At the front of the lecture hall, in the group of key figures from the East, South, and North, Kairen of the North was the first to speak.

“The tales of the North follow the established academic consensus more closely than those of any other region.”

Kairen sat with impeccable posture and began in a calm voice.

“The Age of the Four Kingdoms was rife with territorial disputes and wars. They say the children of the North grew up believing steel had always been stained red with blood, because every day was soaked in it.”

“Red steel...”
