Sea of Suffering

Lazie greeted me with a silly grin, looking delighted about something.

"What did you think of the present I prepared for you? I spent a lot of time wondering how best to start, but it had some impact, didn't it?"

Though I didn't answer, it beamed and began proudly recounting what it had done.

Like a child showing off a craft project they'd made at school.

To be honest, most of it was difficult to sit through.

Then again, who would enjoy listening to someone proudly prattle on about how they'd killed people?

"At first, I thought about turning it into an actual child, but too much of it would have been left over. So――"

I couldn't stand it any longer and cut Lazie off.

"The child is safe, right?"

"Kuh-heh-heh. Who knows? What do you think? Is the child all right? Or did I break my promise and lay a hand on the child? Is it even here? Gasp! You never know—maybe somewhere other than here, another me is waiting for White with White's precious child!"...
