Just before engaging in battle, I gathered the Officers.
“The enemy Troops are estimated to be around four thousand. There are thousands more about four days' march away, but we'll finish the battle before they arrive, so it shouldn't be an issue.”
Our Troops consisted of 1,892 Red Dragon Legion infantry, with Benedicta making it 1,893. Numerically, this meant an enemy nearly twice our size awaited us.
“Four thousand? Ha!”
“If you're talking about *those* Troops, we'd be fine even if there were twice as many!”
The Officers, hearing my words, showed confidence instead, and their morale soared.
And for good reason.
“There are hardly any of them who can walk properly, so we'd win even if we just took them for a stroll.” “They're the enemy who came out with pathetic weapons like hoes and plows. We cannot lose!”
The Troops awaiting us were Orcs, with few able to properly hold themselves, clearly non-combatants even from a distance.
Even though they were Orcs, known as a warrior race, they barely managed to form a line. They looked so pathetic that it felt wrong to call them troops, appearing weaker than even the conscripts from Imperial villages...
