After finishing his meal, Leon spent some time praying before the altar.

For Leon, prayer was not merely a time to recite his wishes and offer thanks.

He communicated with the gods, spoke with them directly, and acted as their representative, carrying out their will.

The gods always answered his prayers.

[Leon, my knight. Your goddess has been waiting for your prayers.]

'Goddess Ariana.'

Leon gave her his report for the day, much like a regular work briefing. The first thing he asked about was their well-being.

'Goddess, how are Sir Geobrick and the others faring?'

The gods had welcomed the souls of the knights and soldiers Leon had recovered by staying behind in the Gate until the very end.
