This Is Not a Small Matter Right Now

“...What exactly is the situation right now?”

“It was an assault that occurred 27 minutes ago in Jangryang-dong, Buk-gu, Pohang, Gyeongsangbuk-do. Two infantry soldiers who were handling a C+ grade open gate response operation were attacked by an unidentified group of Awakeners and seriously injured.”

Ophelia recapped the situation in detail. Two infantrymen were patrolling inside Jangryang-dong while dealing with the open gate when they were attacked by an Awakener. Normally, when a C+ grade gate appears, we send a small team of six.

Given each soldier’s individual specs, six are more than enough to handle a gate of that level. This time, a dog-like beast-type monster with a rapid spread rate had appeared, so the six soldiers were attacked while spread out over a wide area.

The opposition wasn’t just one person but several, and although only two were visible, it seems there was a ranged attacker or an accomplice with a low-tier telekinetic ability.

She also said there was likely at least one more accomplice with a power that could help interfere with detection so the assailants’ approach couldn’t be properly tracked. Even though our soldiers have combat abilities at the upper end of A-rank, this Awakener still had enough firepower to inflict major wounds with a surprise attack.

One of the infantrymen had his arm torn off from the right shoulder down to his side, and the other had his lower body ripped away. And the most important point is this.

“You’re saying the assailant took the broken parts with them.”

“That’s right. It appears they were trying to inspect the inside of the golem soldiers and steal the technology.”

Our soldiers are strong. They have combat power at about A+ level, and their durability is tremendous compared to Awakeners of similar build. And yet they attacked, injured them, and took the parts...
