Usually, singing the year's biggest hit on an awards-show stage is both a ritual and, to some extent, a matter of course.

However, Mikansei had two hit songs released this year.

Edge over, released at the beginning of the year, and White out, released midway through it.

The latter's commercial success was overwhelming, but the former had done well enough that it could not by any means be called a failure.

The organizers wanted me to sing White out, but since I had to sing it again tomorrow anyway, I didn't want to perform it at the Record Awards as well, so I went ahead and sang Edge over instead.

Until now, Mikansei had never performed live even once.

That was why, regardless of how well her songs did on the charts, people were bound to keep discussing Mikansei's singing ability.

Of course, the Mikansei seen on-screen had always sung well.

The same was true of her recorded music, the short live performances she uploaded as Shorts, and her First Take performances.

But what ultimately had to be proven was a raw live performance without any safety net...
