Along with the sudden news of marriage from Hojin, came the news of Girls Memorial 2's official launch.
To be honest, Girls Memorial 2 hadn’t garnered as much anticipation as previous titles like Kyosoba Musume or Chronicle Connect: Relink.
There were several reasons for this, but the first was the uncertainty surrounding the Remake, as I pick out a few representative reasons.
Excluding the previous Chronicle Connect: Relink, successful Remakes weren’t unheard of, but they were quite rare.
Even with Liberty Games’s inheritance of the Girls Memorial IP and its reputation, it couldn’t generate the overwhelming anticipation of previous works.
And the second reason was the genre of Girls Memorial 2 revealed during the CBT.
The Turn-based Strategy Simulation genre, which is the foundation of Girls Memorial 2's SRPG genre, was clearly a polarizing one.
To what extent? It was hard to find a successful game in the Turn-based Strategy Simulation genre even after the E-COM 2 boom.
There were a few other reasons, but broadly speaking, the anticipation was definitely lower than for previous titles due to these two factors.
Thus, Girls Memorial 2 officially launched amidst a mix of expectations and concerns...
