Declaring Myself

"How much has the situation changed?"

On the way to the throne room, I asked Sebas as we walked.

Even while I was operating as Silver, the Empire was dealing with civil war in addition to invasions from other countries. If the situation in even one place changed, everything would begin to move.

"The most serious situation is in the north. Leonart-sama had established an encirclement using three armies: the Northern Lords' Coalition, his own main force, and the army under one of his generals. However, the Northern Lords' Coalition was routed and scattered, making it impossible to maintain the encirclement. Leonart-sama is currently holed up in a castle with his main force, but the castle itself is apparently being surrounded."

"It was a good decision not to retreat immediately. If Leo retreats, most of the northern lords will flock to Gordon. That alone would decide the course of the war."

"However, the price was that Leonart-sama ended up surrounded. The army under his general is also being held in check by the opposing forces, so they can't go to his aid."

"So that's why we're discussing sending reinforcements from the Imperial Capital. Even Leo would have trouble against the Dragon Prince. Reinforcements have come from the Allied Kingdom too, right? They have the Dragon Knights over there, after all."

"Yes. Initially, the enemy had forty thousand soldiers, while Leonart-sama also had a force of forty thousand. However, the Northern Lords' Coalition was unable to respond when twenty thousand reinforcements arrived from the Allied Kingdom and the Principality, followed by the Dragon Knights directly under the Dragon Prince."

"Rather than being unable to respond, it would be more accurate to say they had no desire to respond. The northern lords have no obligation to do that much for the imperial family."

As I said that, I sighed...
