“You want to clear a dungeon in Taiwan?”

The Director, Jo Hyeong-bin, whom I’d spoken with on the phone before, was sitting right in front of me.

Zephyros got a call directly from the minister, while I got one from a director? There had been a moment when I felt a little slighted, but it turned out that was just another ignorant thought.

Lately, my ignorance seems to keep popping up. What can I do? Until recently, I was just an ordinary guy who never would’ve had the chance to meet directors or ministers.

I can do better from now on.

Anyway, the reason that thought was ignorant...

Vice ministers and assistant vice ministers, all the way down to assistant ministers, were Grade 1 civil servants who didn’t handle much actual work. A director of a central government ministry was a Grade 2 civil servant and could be considered the person ultimately in charge of the actual work.

So... the highest-ranking civil servant handling the work had called to discuss it, and I’d complained, asking if there wasn’t someone higher up.

Ahem, anyway...
