The title of Demon King held great significance not just for demonkind, but for humanity and, of course, for me as well.

It's so obvious that it hardly needs saying, but not in a positive sense.

As my brow furrowed in response to the name "Demon King," Delkir, sensitive to my reaction, chuckled as if making light of it and said:

"I'm just saying, I'm not telling you to call yourself Demon King. King, Emperor, Demon King—titles are just empty shells anyway."

"...Right."

For them, the only being worthy of being called king was the Demon King, so that's why they used the term.

"I'm not so shameless as to ask you to make such a choice right away. Look around and decide. Make yourself comfortable while you're here."

Delkir said he'd provide all conveniences during our stay and assigned Bella to accompany me.

Of course, even with the offer of convenience, there's not much they can do on a frontline like this.

"I'd like to investigate the plague. Could I get a few goblin and orc corpses?"...
