There was a term called Aspidochelone.

It was something that often appeared in old myths or legends, referring to turtles or whales so enormous that they were mistaken for islands.

Such legends existed across Eastern and Western cultures in my home world too.

It was probably because tall tales like "I thought it was an island, but it turned out to be a whale's back" or "It was on a turtle's shell" were very common repertoires among sailors.

And as was usually the case with such tall tales, of course, it was just fiction, and it was meant to be just an interesting story.

At least, in my home world.

I was now on top of a giant turtle floating leisurely on the surface of a vast ocean.

"I knew about it... but it really looks just like an island."...
