Following this, it was a monotonous series of clean-up operations.
Organizing the chaotic battlefield, retrieving bodies, recovering or disposing of broken equipment. We even held a unit funeral on-site for our fallen soldiers.
We handled everything that could be done with care. We weren't pressed for time like during the war with the Empire. Compared to now, the Northern Front was… ugh.
It was truly hellish there. Company Commanders, even Regiment Commanders and Division Commanders died, and we couldn't even properly prepare their bodies for burial. We just had to bury them hastily in the snow or burn them.
…Thinking about it makes me angry again.
