"Seize authority...? What exactly do you mean? I don't quite understand."

Leclerc, dumbfounded by a concept he'd never heard before, struggled to comprehend. I elaborated for him, his war-hardened mind working furiously.

"It is as I said. You understand why the Holy Emperor's Court wields such powerful influence, correct?"

"Well, because they can control the Goddess Sects of each nation and issue commands as they please. The Holy Emperor is the ruler of all believers."

"We're going to put an end to that."

My plan was a derivative of the Anglican Church system back on Earth, slightly modified.

The Anglican Church, created by Henry VIII when he declared the Reformation in the 16th century, was, simply put, a church headed by the Monarch.

They seized the authority previously held by the Pope – the power to appoint personnel, to judge the clergy, to consecrate bishops – and claimed it as their own. They essentially created a separate religion, despite sharing the same doctrines and scriptures.
