Chapter 93. Execution (1)

A little-known fact is that it's actually uncommon for royalty to be executed when a nation changes hands.

Typically, in a monarchy, the Monarch is the center of the administrative System and the focal point of the people. Killing them arbitrarily could not only halt the country but also incite nationwide rage.

If some strange group suddenly appears and chops off the head of the beloved ruler who has been served for generations, no one would accept it.

Therefore, indirect methods are often used, like exiling them and then secretly assassinating them, or arranging an "accident" in a secluded place.

However, there are a few exceptions.

The first is a conquering nation like the Mongol Empire. They could do it because they crushed, killed, and burned everything, regardless of local sentiment.

Public opinion meant nothing to them. How could there be backlash when there were no people left to form public opinion?

The second is an era like the Three Kingdoms or the Sixteen Kingdoms period. An era of desperate, all-out wars and frequent massacres.

With concepts like morality and mercy extinguished, things that would normally be unthinkable happened frequently.

And the third is when the rebel faction wins over the hearts of the people. If the existing Royal Family is hated for their incompetence and tyranny, and the rebels promise improvement. If the rebels gain more support and popularity than the rulers they oppose...
