Chapter 95. Confession (Main Story End)

Countless criminals had met their end on the executioner's block two months prior. In the former Kingdom of Ulanor, now the Ulanor Empire, another momentous event was unfolding.

"All adults over the age of 20 with the right to vote, cast your ballots! Your choice can change the future of this nation!"

"So now we elect the folks who run the country?"

"Things have changed a lot since the new Monarch took the throne. It used to be hard enough just to observe The Three Estates."

The first general election of the Assembly.

It was a nationwide vote to select the Members of Parliament who would comprise the newly reorganized and expanded Assembly of the Ulanor Empire.

The total number of members was 500: 200 in the upper house and 300 in the lower house.

Two members were allocated to each region or territory for the upper house, and the lower house seats were distributed proportionally to the population.

Carolus had modeled it after the American political system he remembered.

"But you have to pay taxes to vote? It makes sense, but isn't the amount too high?"...
