Chapter 97. Side Story 2 - Vacation

Imperial Calendar Year 3, July 15th.

One day, as the summer heat was beginning to take hold, I was making preparations to transfer power to the Assembly as usual, when a thought suddenly struck me.

"Should I go visit my father and mother after all this time?"

"Suddenly, Your Majesty?"

"I tried to invite them to the coronation, but it didn't work out."

I wanted to see my family. Not just Brother Julius, whom I see often, but my actual birth parents.

I haven't seen them since my days at the military academy, or throughout the entire war.

Wouldn't it be my duty as a proper child to show my face and give them an update on my life?

'They probably have a rough idea of what I've been up to.'

I have been sending them regular letters since ascending to the throne, but it’s a world of difference from seeing them in person...
