The metal band’s performance had just ended. With a flag draped over his shoulder, he left the stage, looking satisfied. It was unpleasant to be drenched in sweat even though there were still performances left to see, but he was happy to have enjoyed a proper slam for the first time in ages. This was what a rock festival was all about.

‘Who’s performing next? The main-stage sub-headliner…’

Thinking about it as he walked, he realized it was Group Sound, the band that had been so popular lately. They certainly had the credentials to be the main-stage sub-headliner, and people would probably enjoy them, but they seemed a little tame for him to have fun with. Their songs were a bit too mild for wild activities like jumping around, slamming, or moshing.

Thinking that, he entered the main stage, where everyone seemed to have gathered and was standing packed together, his enormous flag fluttering above him. He greeted the people who moved aside little by little and headed toward the slam zone, where the other flags had gathered. In the meantime, as though the performance were about to begin, the guitarist took the mic.

“Hello. I’m Ha Suyeon.”

‘The outfit is a little…’

Techwear with frills and thigh-high socks. Was she in a girl group or a rock band? Wearing an outfit that seemed to combine two conflicting identities, she leisurely continued speaking while drawing everyone’s attention.

“Some of you may have waited a long time, and some of you may be seeing us for the first time. Some of you may have heard our music, and some of you may not have. But we’ll do our best to make this a performance everyone can enjoy.”

It was less like a rock band’s greeting and more like an elderly singer greeting the audience on a pop music stage.
