‘I think they said today’s performance would last about two hours.’

He recalled the schedule they had been given in advance. After filming the performance, they would shoot a brief background interview, and that would be the end of today’s schedule.

Since they would not start moving until tomorrow afternoon, he could drink to his heart’s content tonight. He turned the camera toward the audience entering after being informed that a documentary was being filmed.

Most of the audience members looked surprised as they entered. Perhaps it was because the band members had come in before them. A few audience members even went down toward the stage to ask the band members if they could take pictures with them.

“Sure! Just come up one at a time, please!”

Following the bassist’s instructions, they lined up and went onstage one by one to take pictures with the members. Even for someone who had been behind a camera for a very long time, it was quite an unfamiliar sight…

These days, some people deliberately keep their distance from fans and adopt a strategy of never showing themselves to them. Seeing these members approach without any sense of distance… perhaps it was a strategy they could choose because they were an indie label.

“Everyone, I’m sorry, but we need to start the performance now. If anyone hasn’t been able to take a picture yet, please line up later.”

Eventually, when the time came, the audience returned to their seats at the guitarist’s prompting.

“Thank you. As you can probably tell from the atmosphere, today’s live concept is going to be… a little more relaxed. Somewhere between a fan meeting and a concert. That’s the feeling we’re going for. The performance is actually two hours long, too.”...
