Darn. I’d apparently let some of my desire to leave because this seemed like a hassle show on my face after all. I didn’t know how Ibroi had taken it, but surely he hadn’t seen it in a positive light. With a faint, knowing smile, he’d asked whether I was a believer.
I don’t follow any particular religion. You could say I’m irreligious.
That doesn’t mean I look down on people who are devout. Religion is an important part of culture, and it’s a fact that people find support in it.
It’s just that, to me, the sword was more worthy of my faith than the uncertain notion of a god.
