Vacation (2)

Vacation is the most valuable period of rest for a student. It is the perfect time to soothe both body and mind after being exhausted from always looking straight ahead, or to plan for the future.

Even if it lasts only a very short month, that is more than enough. A month may seem short at first glance, but if managed well, it can be spent productively.

During vacation, I planned to visit the Marie estate and spend my time lazing around. Academy life was incredibly busy, and the various incidents had left me a little worn out both mentally and physically.

Now that I had somewhat changed my outlook, I could live relatively comfortably, but until I clearly realized my own worth, I had spent every day in constant anxiety.

"Aren't you coming home, sis?"

"I'll probably come back halfway through vacation and stay for about a week. I have to spar with Father."

"Why only a week? Just stay longer. I'm bored."

"Good grief. If you're that bored, why don't you stay at your girlfriend's house too? Besides, I have a lot to do at the academy. I'm graduating soon, and I also need to find out where I'll be assigned."

Incidentally, it was perfectly acceptable to stay at the academy dormitory instead of going home during vacation. Halo Academy was practically a small city, and students could even work part-time jobs there to cover their living expenses.

In particular, most people whose homes were too far away to make traveling back and forth worthwhile tended to stay at the academy during vacation. Until their second year, vacation lasted only a month, so there was little they could do about it...
