There was a conclusion I reached in my previous life while traveling around various countries as an agent of the National Intelligence Service.
I thought of protests as the contagion of madness.
Peaceful protests?
They certainly existed.
If you asked whether every protest was violent, I could answer no.
But most of the protests I experienced and witnessed were, without exception, demonstrations involving the use of force.
In one country, people were dissatisfied with that country's system.
In another, the country's young people could no longer endure its countless corruption scandals and erupted in protest.
Or, absurd as it sounds, there had even been protests that erupted because a country lost in some sport...
