They were crying out for freedom—for an end to our oppression and for artists' convictions to be respected.
And yet they were throwing away the very works that could be called the artists' proof of existence.

I bent down, picked up a painting discarded on the ground like trash, and casually placed it on one of the benches that had somehow survived.
"Good grief."
This was why I couldn't look favorably upon protests.
