Around the time the opening ceremony of the International Congress of Mathematicians began in Philadelphia, Korea’s Major Mathematics Gallery was boiling over with strange excitement.

That was because the ICM opening ceremony was being livestreamed on the official MeTube channel.

Normally, this would have been the time when a few proof questions and complaints about how hard school and the lab were would be posted before everyone logged off.

But today was different.

Every gallery regular was sitting in front of a monitor to watch one person.

There was only one reason.

The youngest Fields Medal recipient ever, and the first Korean national to receive one.

They had come to watch Ayeon Yoo receive the Fields Medal with their own eyes.
