Before answering, Kael quietly looked around the room.

Sora had both hands clamped over her mouth, not even allowing the sound of her breathing to escape, while Yuran sat on the edge of the chair, lips tightly pressed together, staring at him.

Neither of them spoke. As though instinctively sensing how important the conversation about to take place was, each was keeping quiet in their own way.

Kael turned his gaze back to the card.

No sooner had that single word ended than a hearty laugh burst from beyond the card.
