Early morning.
The faint glow of dawn filtering through the inn-room window announced the arrival of morning.
Thanks to it, Daniel, who had been sleeping on his back in a straight, proper posture, stirred.
Daniel reflexively opened his eyes and turned toward the window before letting out a wry laugh.
‘Morning. I was sure I’d sleep soundly until noon…….’
Despite deliberately going to bed late, he had woken up in the morning; it seemed he couldn’t shake his habits as an operations staff officer.
‘Well, I did spend a year as an officer at General Staff Headquarters. There was no way my habits would change overnight.’
With a self-deprecating smile, Daniel sat up and ran a hand over his face.
