Most Lives Don't Go Smoothly

After eating his trifle and leaving the dessert shop, Daniel began sightseeing in earnest.

He toured the attractions of the port city of Tentarbahem, sampled its famous grilled squid with butter and fresh oysters, and leisurely strolled through the streets.

Just as he was thoroughly enjoying such a peaceful life, a man in a tailcoat suddenly approached him.

“Are you Mr. Rivellard?”

Wondering who the man was, Daniel looked him over as the middle-aged man placed a hand over his chest and spoke politely.

“I’m Banbresh, the butler in service to Lady Lev. I heard that Mr. Rivellard was invited to Lady Lev’s dinner, so I’ve come to escort you. Are you the person I’m looking for?”

“Ah. Yes, that’s me.”

When Daniel confirmed it, Banbresh smiled and took a blindfold from inside his coat.

“I know it’s inconvenient, but would you mind putting this on?”

“A blindfold?”...
