Tree Scars

The sight of the octopus, dyed bright red from cooking, made my mouth water.

Yerin and Kim Woong's gazes were fixed so intensely on the large octopus tentacle I'd pulled out that it was almost burdensome.

“Ms. Yerin. Mr. Kim Woong. Were you very hungry?”

“Of course. It's almost sunset.”

“Benefactor, swimming is an exercise that uses the entire body and consumes an enormous amount of stamina….”

“I understand. Just wait a little.”

I ignored Kim Woong's TMI, divided the octopus into three equal portions, and placed one in each person's bowl.

“Let's eat!”

As if they'd rehearsed it, the two of them picked up the octopus almost simultaneously and put it in their mouths.
