Chapter 4: First Playthrough of the Demon King's Castle

The flower carriage jolted, waking me up.

"Ugh."

My head was pounding. As the carriage vibrated, I could feel every bump of the unpaved road through my back.

While massaging my aching back to regain my senses, I looked around. The first thing that caught my eye was the blood-red sky.

It wasn't sunset or dusk - the sky was crimson like blood, with what looked like black storm clouds drifting across it.

The next thing I noticed was the carriage I was riding in. It wasn't a flower carriage at all. More accurately, it was a prisoner transport carriage.

Behind cold iron bars, several young boys including myself sat with dull eyes.

The boys showed no signs of will to live or resistance. They wore nothing but rags, and their feet were bound with heavy shackles.

They just crouched in the corners, staring blankly at the carriage floor. One peculiar thing was that all the boys were quite handsome.

This helped me understand the situation.

The parallel world I chose was clearly the Demon King's Castle. This carriage seemed to be headed there.

I picked this one because it offered 100,000 points for clearing it, but the situation is complete shit from the start.

She said she'd come with me, but after calling several times there was no response.

A familiar hologram window appeared before my eyes. The status window still works even in a different world.

However, the abilities displayed were quite different from what I saw as the #1 ranked Hunter.

The carriage suddenly stopped, and an animal's cry came from the front.

A growl like a beast quietly snarling. Looking closer, what was pulling us wasn't a horse.

It was a massive black wolf pulling the carriage. Technically this was a dog-drawn carriage.

I think they call it a Dire Wolf. Anyway, after the carriage stopped, someone got down from the front seat and approached the iron bars.

Playful voices rang out first, then they appeared before us.

The moment I heard her voice, my foggy mind instantly cleared.

Thanks to her help I managed to stand and lean against the tree, but I was still unsteady.

I looked toward the distant Demon King's Castle. It seemed close enough to reach in an hour or two.
