It's, well, exactly the sort of thing you'd see in a game or anime.
A transparent rectangular panel covered in text is floating in front of me.

All right... I'll check everything one by one for now.
First, the name.
Kudou Kazuto.
So it's written in katakana rather than kanji.
Next is the level.
The stuff underneath is the stats, I guess.
Every one of them is in the single digits.
I have nothing to compare them to, so I can't really say, but they're probably low, right?
Under that are SP and JP.
Wondering what they were, I clicked on the displayed text, but nothing happened.
So I can only look at them.
Underneath those are Job, Unique Skill, and Skill.
The Job and Skill fields are blank.
The Unique Skill field says 'Early Bloomer.'
I click it, but of course, nothing happens.
But if I take the words at face value, does it mean I can grow faster? Or maybe it gives me an experience bonus?
But why is this already listed as acquired?
Ah... Remember.
I desperately rummage through my memories.

Well, next are Job and Skill.
Even though I doubt it'll do anything, I click the Job field anyway.

An option appeared beneath Job.

So I can choose one of these?
I look over the options.
Uh... Are Shut-In and NEET really Jobs?
Well, if we're saying that, Citizen is more of a social class than a Job.
Could that be it?
Is it because I've always wanted to quit my job and laze around at home?
And what's with Ascetic Monk?
Is it because I was a corporate slave?
Well, in a sense, it wasn't much different from ascetic training.
I was being ground down to the brink mentally.
The Cook... Well, probably because I cooked for myself and sometimes made fairly elaborate meals.
On my occasional days off.
Jockey... Is it because I have a driver's license?
But if that's the case, shouldn't it be 'Driver'?
Was it because I ran over and killed a monster? I have no idea what the criteria are.

This is probably because my boss often forced me to rat out my coworkers.
And tell people they were being laid off.
It was a nasty role, I know. But it's what you'd call a necessary evil.
I took on that role too, knowing people would resent me. What an awful workplace it was.
So, apparently, I have to choose a Job from these...
What should I pick?
It looks like I can only choose one.
The obvious candidate is Adventurer.
It's the safest choice, and it feels like it fits this world.
I mean, this really is reality, right?
It's not a dream, right?

All right, I've decided.
I choose a Job.

Apparently, JP stands for Job Points.
So I use these to choose a Job.
Ha, this really is like a game.
If JP means Job Points, then SP must mean Skill Points.
I settle on Spy.
In a world like this,
information gathering and self-preservation are what matter.
For that, I think this is the best choice.
I was torn between Adventurer and Spy, though.
Given my personality, this one feels more like me.
What? Why don't I choose Shut-In?
Who would pick such a joke Job?
If this were an MMORPG, playing a joke character like that might be an option, but there's no way I'd choose that Job in an actual fantasy world. I'd probably die.
Since there are no Yes or No buttons, I answer yes in my head.
Is this okay?

What's more, they're all things I need right now.
Choosing Spy really was the right call.
My JP dropped to 9.
Since they all have 'Lv. 1' next to them, does that mean I can raise their levels by spending points?
All right, since I've come this far...
