Vol. 10 Ch. 9: The Thing That Became a Calamity

The Reinburg ducal territory lies in the eastern region, which is said to suffer frequent dragon-related disasters, but even so, it has relatively few compared to other territories.

A few times a year at most, a stray herbivorous dragon wanders into a human settlement after becoming separated from its herd. Large dragons had appeared only a few times since Eliane was born.

Thus, as far as Eliane was concerned, bears and boars were far more familiar threats than dragons.

This forest had few large beasts as well, making it ideal for taking a stroll.

The only large beasts were the occasional deer. Deer could be fairly vicious creatures as well, but Peter was carrying a hunting rifle, so he could probably drive one off if they encountered it.

(Ah, how wonderful it would be if I happened to run into Felix-sama here. Felix-sama would look a little surprised, then smile and hold out his hand, saying, "Eliane, come over here." I would be bewildered at first, but take Felix-sama's hand... Then Felix-sama would lift me into his arms, a little forcefully. And he would tell the bashful me, "You need to hold on tight, or it's dangerous," and I would timidly reach my hands toward Felix-sama's chest...)

While Eliane was lost in this pleasant daydream, the horse came to an abrupt stop.

"...Oh my, what is it?"

"I don't know. The horse suddenly became frightened..."

Peter checked the horse, but it did not appear to be injured anywhere. It was clearly agitated and obviously afraid of something...
