Vol. 10 Ch. 19: The Daughter of Venedict Raine

During their stay at the Raineburg ducal estate, Nero acquired a new hobby. Namely, baths.

In rural areas, a bath generally means a steam bath, but in the cities, tub bathing has become relatively well established, with public bathhouses and the like. Aristocrats naturally have bathing facilities in their mansions, and an extravagantly appointed bathhouse is a status symbol in its own right.

The baths at the Raineburg ducal estate were no exception, and were extremely luxurious.

At first, Nero seemed unable to understand the culture of bathing, but ever since he gingerly climbed into the tub, he had apparently become completely obsessed with baths.

The nobility often bathed early in the morning, before getting dressed for the day, but Nero went to the bathhouse at night, when he could occupy it without worrying about anyone else.

Today, too, Nero eagerly headed for the bathhouse after dinner. Even when disguised as a human or a cat, his true nature was that of a dragon, which made him vulnerable to the cold. At this time of year, when snow sometimes fluttered through the air, a bath to warm his body must have been absolute bliss.

Who could have imagined that the dragon feared as Wogan's Black Dragon would be happily taking a bath?

(...Even so, I feel like Nero's baths have been getting longer every day...)

Reheating the water and cleaning the bath required servants. If he soaked for too long, the servants would probably find it troublesome.

Monica thought she would have to remind him to finish up at a reasonable time, but for now, she returned to the report she was writing...
