Vol. 12 Ch. 2: Crackers and Pickles Were Delicious

On the first day of the new term, Monica made her way to her classroom, keeping a more careful watch on her surroundings than ever before.

Right clear, left clear, ahead and behind clear... The way she kept looking around warily every few steps made her look suspicious to anyone who saw her.

"...What are you doing?"

When Rana called out to her from behind, Monica's shoulders jerked, and she let out a strange cry: "Pigyau?!" She had barely managed to choke back the scream that nearly escaped her, and this was the result.

If she so much as raised her voice in front of "that person"... That person would definitely notice her. There was no mistaking it. And then, grinning from ear to ear, they would say:

──Wellllll, I've missed you, Everett?

As she trembled violently at the memory of the terror she had once experienced, Rana peered worriedly into her face.

"Oh dear, your face is as white as a sheet. Hey, why don't you go rest in the dorm?"

"I-I'm f-f-fine. There aren't any classes today, anyway."
