Monica returned to school after a week away, and during lunch break, she found herself using Serendia Academy's cafeteria for the first time.
Casey from the neighboring class had gone out of her way to visit Monica's classroom during break and invite her to lunch. Since Lana would be joining them too, Monica nervously nodded at Casey's invitation.
Speaking of student cafeterias, the one Monica remembered was the cafeteria at Minerva, the magical training institution she had once attended.
At Minerva, students selected and paid for their meals at the reception desk, then received a wooden token with their menu written on it. When they presented it at the counter, it was exchanged for a tray bearing their meal. There were usually about three daily menu options, while refills of bread and soup cost extra.
So Monica had assumed that Serendia Academy's cafeteria worked the same way, but it was completely different from what she had imagined.
Put simply, Serendia Academy's cafeteria was an upscale restaurant. When students arrived, an attendant escorted them to their seats, took their orders, and carried the food to their tables.
The charges were billed together with their tuition, so students did not have to pay anything on the spot.
Students who wished to do so could even have their meals delivered to their rooms in the dormitory. Truly, they were pampered in every possible way.
