Vol. 6 Ch. 6: The Matter of Chocolate

After school, when Monica showed up at the student council room for the first time in a week, Felix looked at her with a troubled expression.

"Lady Norton, I haven't seen you since partway through the observation tour... Where did you go?"

Monica trembled guiltily and gave him the same excuse she had given Casey.

"Um, well, I went to the restroom, and while I was there, I was, um, invited to a chess class..."

Strictly speaking, she hadn't been invited; Elliott had dragged her there by force.

The observation tour ended as soon as her match with Elliott was over, so Monica hadn't been able to observe any other classes.

Hearing that she had attended a chess class, Felix looked slightly surprised and turned his gaze toward Elliott Howard, who was working in the back of the room.

"Speaking of chess, Secretary Howard was taking that class, wasn't he?"

Elliott continued working through his paperwork in silence, as though he hadn't heard.

Elliott and Bridget, who did not welcome Monica's presence as a student council officer, treated her as though she were not there at all—as if she were nothing more than air...
