He Fell Asleep

“Hello, may I ask if you’re calling for Chen Ju? I’m sorry, he can’t come to the phone right now. Could you call back later?”

A stranger’s voice came through the phone. Jiang Zhou’s expression darkened. “Let Chen Ju answer.”

“He’s tired and asleep. I’ll have him call you back later.” Li Qing frowned and glanced at the caller ID: Jiang Zhou. Wasn’t that the man who’d been sitting in the car that night?

Asleep? Jiang Zhou’s expression grew even darker. “Does he live with you?”

The man’s icy tone put Li Qing in a bad mood. He hummed in assent and said, “Yeah, he lives here with me. If there’s nothing else, I’m hanging up. I don’t want to wake him.”

With that, Li Qing hung up. Was this guy really Chen Ju’s friend? He sounded like he was going to eat someone alive. With Chen Ju’s soft nature, the guy would walk all over him.
