Taking His Wife to Work

“What’s wrong?” Chen Ju looked at Jiang Zhou in confusion.

Jiang Zhou looked away and said quietly, “It’s nothing.”

After finishing breakfast, Chen Ju felt full, much more comfortable, and full of energy. Suddenly, he remembered he had to go to work. He shot to his feet and asked anxiously, “Jiang Zhou, what time is it?”

“Nine in the morning.” Jiang Zhou put down his coffee and looked at the anxious Chen Ju.

“Ah, I only have half an hour left! I’ll be late if I don’t hurry!” Chen Ju dashed toward the door in a panic.

Jiang Zhou frowned, strode over, and pulled Chen Ju back just as he opened the door. “You’re going to work dressed like that? Besides, even if you go, you won’t make it in time.”

Chen Ju stopped, his face showing a mixture of confusion and anxiety. He looked at Jiang Zhou, wanting to ask what he meant.

“You slept for two days and two nights.” Jiang Zhou let go of him and closed the door, shutting out the cold air. The room grew warm again. “You can’t seriously be stupid enough to think you’d recover that quickly after burning up with a fever like that?”

“Two days? Two whole days have gone by?” Chen Ju murmured, his face as pale as paper. He hadn’t gone to work or called in sick for two days. If they fired him because of that...

No, he had to go explain everything to his boss right now...
