Jiang Zhou set down his pen and leaned back in his chair. His expression was much better than before, though still rather blank.
“I don’t like milk tea,” he said flatly.
“Oh.” Chen Ju deflated like a popped balloon. He knew Jiang Zhou wouldn’t like it, but he’d still held on to the hope that it might cheer him up. It turned out he’d been overthinking it.
“Sorry. I... I’ll take it away right now.” Chen Ju reached for the milk tea. Just as his fingertips touched it, Jiang Zhou moved it to the other side. Chen Ju froze, then looked at him in confusion.
“How can you take back something you’ve given someone?” Jiang Zhou raised an eyebrow and crooked a finger, as if beckoning a puppy. “Come here. Let me hold you for a while.”
Chen Ju paused, then realized Jiang Zhou wasn’t angry anymore. His dejection immediately turned to delight, and he hurried around the desk to stand in front of Jiang Zhou.
Just as he was about to sit in Jiang Zhou’s lap, his eyes darted to the office door. He’d only closed it when he came in. What if someone suddenly came in and saw them like this...
“What are you spacing out for?” Jiang Zhou frowned, grabbed Chen Ju by the arm, and pulled him onto his lap. He wrapped his arms around him from behind, his chest pressed against Chen Ju’s back.
