“Who said we were close?” Li Qing rolled his eyes, picked up the bottle, and filled Chen Ju’s glass. “Come on, have a couple of drinks with me.”
Chen Ju stared at the liquor in his glass and said awkwardly, “Brother Qing, I, I can’t hold my liquor.”
“It’s fine. Just have a little. I’m here, so I won’t let you drink too much!” Li Qing eagerly pushed the glass toward Chen Ju. “Come on. If you don’t drink, you’re saying I’m not worth your time.”
“Oh, then, then I’ll just have a little.” Chen Ju picked up the glass and took a small sip. The sharp taste shot up from his nose to his eyes, and tears immediately welled in their corners. He hurriedly grabbed the water beside him and gulped down more than half a glass.
Yan Qiu, seated across from them, burst out laughing and teased him. “Orange, you really can’t drink at all, can you? Hahaha.”
Li Qing glared at Yan Qiu. “Don’t make fun of our Orange. So what if he can’t drink? It’s not like everyone has to know how.”
“I’m not the one trying to get him to drink.” As he spoke, Yan Qiu took the glass from in front of Chen Ju and replaced it with a drink. “If you can’t drink, then don’t. Don’t listen to Li Qing.”
Chen Ju’s cheeks burned. He pressed his lips together and lowered his head in embarrassment.
By the time dinner was over, it was past nine. Li Qing was thoroughly drunk, so Yan Qiu propped him up, carried him to the car, and dumped him in the back seat.
