Ruby had gone out on a request to mow down a monster horde, just like any other day, but suddenly showed up carrying a girl on her back.

"I found her."

That was what she said. I did wonder whether people usually picked someone up and brought them home.

The violet-haired girl was still unconscious, so it was impossible to ask her what had happened.

"She looks like a magical girl. I think she might be our junior."

"Our junior!?"

So she’d been a man too, then. She was the junior party to the contract, and the other side held all the cards.

For the record, I wasn’t the one who was surprised. It was Peridot, who’d been happily sipping a drink through a straw. I even saw a few drops splash out.

"Well, it’s just a hunch. Anyway, this was a forest area where monsters appear, so I brought her along. Otherwise, we can hand her over to a shelter or something."...
