What swept through Velos Academy after the midterm evaluation ended was a despair-tinged sense of relief.

"...I think I bombed the exam, ah... aaah...."

"The written exam went about as expected, but the practical evaluation was just too difficult."

"I really can't tell whether I did well or poorly."

The sighs grew deeper, especially among the cadets taking many subjects in which the practical evaluation carried a high weight in their grades.

"Whew...."

"But aren't the humanities students at least doing all right?"

"I heard those guys completely bombed the written exam this time. Most of it was essay questions, so they don't even know which answers are correct, even after comparing them with one another."
