A Wonderful Aspect of Autumn: Action (36)

A being resembling a pink Slime had two monsters emerge from inside its body. Both monsters had quite distinctive appearances.

One of them was a humanoid monster more than three meters tall. Its overall silhouette was rounded, and its entire body was covered in rough, dark-brown scales. Its legs were short, while its oval torso gave it a squat, bulky appearance. Unlike its legs, its arms were long enough for its fingertips to touch the ground, and each arm had three elbow-like joints.

Its most notable feature, however, was the absence of a head. There was nothing where its head should have been. Instead, facial features were haphazardly scattered across other parts of its body, such as its arms and abdomen. It seemed to use the large mouth in its abdomen when speaking.

The other one was shorter, a humanoid monster about 120 centimeters tall—only about as tall as an elementary school student—with green, strangely glossy skin. However, it was no less bizarre than the other two. First, its left arm immediately caught the eye. It was as thick as Jigoro's arm, and long, hooked claws grew from each of its six fingers. It was nothing short of vicious.

Its right arm was appropriately sized for its body in both thickness and length. However, it could hardly be called normal, since four right arms sprouted from its shoulder. Each of these held a different weapon: a sword, an axe, a club, and an iron flail. Every weapon was rusty, chipped, and battered, yet all of them emitted an aura blending dark green and black. It was obvious that they were no ordinary weapons.

Finally, there was its head. Its forehead bulged out enormously, its left eye was swollen to the point of seeming ready to pop out, while its right eye was small and round. Overall, it was a highly asymmetrical monster.

"Glug, glug... Before giving you your trial, allow me to introduce myself. I am Schnelge, the 'Demon-Melting Fiend,' a Heroic Spirit honored to serve the beautiful and mighty goddess Iifa-sama, the 'Goddess of Death and Chaos.'"

The pink Slime-like entity had once again introduced itself grandly, though it remained unclear where its voice was coming from. Yes, as expected, it was one of Iifa-sama's Heroic Spirits. Just as I had predicted.

I knew I might anger someone by saying this despite knowing almost nothing about the other goddesses, but surely no one other than the 'Goddess of Death and Chaos' would accept a being with such a dangerous appearance and epithet as a Heroic Spirit. The other two must be Iifa-sama's Heroic Spirits as well...
