The Circumstances of the Three

I logged in. Work had run late, so I was getting online later than usual. Oh, there was a message in clan chat. Checking it, I found it was a reply to the suggestion that Iris and I continue developing the city.

Most of the replies were favorable, but three people said they might not be able to help. They were Shifune, Wool, and Moss-san. They had said they would explain their circumstances, so I assumed the three shared a reason. I had an inkling what it was.

"Sorry I'm late."

"Not at all. I haven't been waiting long."

After finishing my daily watering and leaving Rin with Kal, I went to our floating battleship, Shiratsuki. The person I was meeting was none other than Moss-san. This wasn't a secret meeting between Moss-san and me. It was simply that we had logged in around the same late hour.

A few of the other clanmates had already been given an explanation by Shifune and Wool. Moss-san said he'd explain it to me too. I wanted to hear it, so I asked him to tell me as much as possible.

"I'd like to explain why we might not be able to help much with developing the city. Though I assume you've already figured out most of it?"

"You think it has to do with Demons. Moss-san isn't especially close with Shifune and Wool, is he? The only thing those three have in common is their connection to Demons."

"As you surmised."

Moss-san sat on a sofa in Shiratsuki's lounge and nodded with a cheerful smile. Despite being a bat-faced Demon, he somehow managed to give off a gentle air, which made him seem like an unbelievably bad person...
