Kal and Rin's Trial Run

The targets in the sights of the two diving dragons were a flock of Seagulls resting on the rocks. It was pitiful that they were being used yet again as a test of Rin's strength, but I had absolutely no intention of telling her to stop. If anything, I almost wished I could collect them as materials myself.

"Fight however you like. Just don't get in each other's way, all right?"

"Grrrr... Gwooooooooooh!!!"

"Gnyaaaaaah!?"

I dismounted from Kal's back and floated in midair so I could watch Kal and Rin fight. As if my leaving were the signal that the battle had begun, Kal came to an abrupt stop and roared.

Kal must have used 【Roar】, but at the instant he roared, something resembling an unfamiliar pitch-black aura was released from his body. The aura seemed to ride on his roar, because a black blast of wind shot from Kal's mouth and struck the flock of Seagulls directly before spreading across the surrounding sea and causing the surface to heave violently.

That aura was probably his new Skill, 【Dragon's Destructive Aura】. Most of the Seagulls struck by the aura-laden roar stopped moving as though they had been paralyzed, and several of them even died instantly from that alone.

【Roar】 and 【Intimidation】 had originally possessed effects that inflicted Stun on enemies, but apparently 【Dragon's Destructive Aura】 could kill them instantly as well. The roar seemed to have reached all the way underwater, because countless fish floated to the surface around the rocks. They must have been caught in the instant-death attack. It would be a waste to leave them there, so I would collect them later.

The Seagulls released from Stun flew around in a half-mad panic, despite having survived. Their icons showed the Fear status effect, so that was probably another effect of 【Dragon's Destructive Aura】.

A convenient wide-area annihilation attack. Skills like this generally do not work against opponents of the same level or higher. They probably would not be completely unaffected, but I doubted the effect would be anywhere near this dramatic...
