To begin with, monsters don’t need to go through the process of growing stronger like humans do. Some are high-Level from the moment they’re born. Atros Island may have few dungeons with the spawn blocks that produce monsters, but every monster produced there—and every monster that lives there—is high-Level.

What’s more, the demons can produce as many of those monsters as they want if they set their minds to it. Until now, there’d been no need to increase their numbers, but there was little doubt they were mass-producing them without mercy now that they were being used as tools for an invasion.

If their previous invasions had been nothing more than a show of force, they might have been stockpiling a vast number of monsters for a full-scale invasion of all Hexaldoria. And on top of that, they had the Demon King, who was said to be so powerful that even a hundred adventurers below Level 100 couldn’t defeat him, even if they joined forces.

If their goal was to kill the Demon King, a small group of skilled fighters could infiltrate the castle on an assassination mission. But that wouldn’t work if they were going up against the Demon King’s army.

Kagami didn’t think the adventurers in Salmaria were weak, but their chances of winning were still low. If they wanted to stand against an overwhelmingly powerful army whose soldiers didn’t stay dead, the adventurers in Salmaria alone weren’t enough.

“But even if we go ahead of them, what can we do? Unless the people of Salmaria give up their intention to attack, they’ll come after us anyway.”

“Here’s my plan. First, we infiltrate the Demon King’s castle and meet the Demon King. Then we hear him out, persuade him to stop his army, and escape with all the demons. There. Perfect.”

Takako sighed at the naivete of Kagami’s plan, which he delivered with a confident snort.

“Listen... What if the Demon King really is set on it? Then we’ll have to steel ourselves, too. We can’t just stand by and live our lives while someone tries to wipe out humanity.”
