Employee Dormitory Candidates

Roger prepared a carriage, and we all climbed aboard and left the ducal estate. It seemed there were two candidate buildings, and we were heading to the one closer to my shop first. Being close to work really is important.

On the way to the candidate employee dormitory, I decided to chat with the two of them a little and get to know them better.

"Thank you both so much for agreeing to work at my shop. ...What made you decide to work for me?"

I didn't know why they'd left the ducal household to come work for me, so I asked rather hesitantly.

"I've had the sweets developed by Leon-sama several times, and I wanted to help you. I wanted to support you closely, since you'd developed such wonderful things. And after interacting with you, I felt that you were someone I wanted to serve as my master."

"I feel the same way. Seeing Leon-sama train diligently every day made me want to serve you. Of course, I've always felt the same way about the members of the ducal family, but I thought that working for you would let me protect you more closely."

...They wanted to serve me? Somehow, it was embarrassing, but it made me happy.

I had to do my best to live up to their expectations.

"Thank you both. I'll do my best to become an employer worthy of you. ...Oh, r-right. Evan had a family name. Is your family noble?"

I thanked them both, but I felt a little embarrassed, so I hurriedly changed the subject. I really was curious about Evan, but mostly, I was just embarrassed...
