The difference between a hotel and a motel is whether it offers lodging or lodging +@.

Motels focus solely on rooms and lodging.

Hotels have restaurants, swimming pools, and various other amenities.

In Korea, old motels are sometimes remodeled and called hotels, but those are K hotels.

That was why the sprawling reception area spread out before us was proof that this place deserved to be called a hotel.
